Because of Saved by the Bell’s unique time slot on Saturday mornings, many of its episodes contained powerful moral messages. Though the message was often socially beneficial, the SBTB staff routinely misused this sacred trust in order to promote its own conservative and radically conformist agenda. Any viewpoint contrary to the staff’s agenda was either ignored, or worse, a target for derision. Such is the case with feminism. Clearly, the SBTB writers and directors are profoundly anti-feminist and they took every possible opportunity to degrade feminist theory. In the process, SBTB socially engineered its impressionable audience against feminist teachings. The most prevalent example is Jessie Spano. Though Jessie is portrayed as a staunch feminist, her views are depicted as reactionary and obnoxious. Furthermore, her opinions are often the object of humor in the series as the other characters mock the views and ridicule Jessie for espousing them.
